I have always had an interest in photography, from pouring over family photo albums, seeing the world through postcards I’ve collected since childhood, to using a camera phone to capture a feeling, a place, a mood whenever I was touring. Since travelling across the USA with my first DSL in 2016 I been hooked.
I’m happiest in motion…dancing (of course), travelling, walking, flying…but, the more I get to know my camera, the more amazed I am at how being still & feeling movement & a connection to someone or somewhere through the lens is just as intoxicating. The act of photographing is quiet, intimate & I use my sensitive nature the same as in performance to tune into something more. I’ve always been a visual person, I studied art as a teenager & still pick up my chalks from time to time capturing a mood with a sweeping arc, a purposeful straight line or a tentative beat of the corner of the chalk.
Photography has become more a part of my core practice in the last few years. I’m finding ways where the flux of working with still images, film and live performance interweaves & inspires one another.
This is an on-going collection of my photography for work & play; a window into how I see and feel the world. From dance, to travel, to nature I am always moving in it, or trying to capture the way it moves me.
